With the start of the new year, I think it's a good time to make my first post to debut the existence of this blog.
And yes, we've all heard it before - 2020 has been rough for many people, and I'm right there with ya. But enough about all that. All I'll say is that I think a lot of what happened last year will pave the way for a big amount of change for 2021 and onwards, as it's brought a lot of hidden issues - raw and real - out into the open for everyone to see. I'm just crossing my fingers and biding my time before I get out there and garner enough resources to make some big swings myself. Whatever happens happens.
So as of when I'm writing this, I've got about 4 days to myself before class starts. Mentally, I'm still in bed pushing the snooze button and catching more winks before I have to get out there and put myself to some hard-pressed learning. It's not that I don't like doing projects for school, but this winter break has given me a lot of time to pursue my own creative endeavors - those of which wouldn't be possible given the little amount of time and energy I have left for myself. I've started a Youtube gaming channel to stir some dopamine into my system, and I've hardly been able to finish editing my second and third episodes of my Starbound series. I just hope I don't lose my motivation...
If I don't get it done in time, I'll have to reassure myself that the time unspent on my channel hasn't completely gone to waste. It's less apparent and easy for future me to forget, but I've been doing a lot of Dungeons and Dragons with my friends and a whole bunch of character designing, writing, characterization and it has been absolutely wonderful to stretch my creative muscles for a bit.
Likewise, my super creative writer friend has kind of picked me up as some sort of creative advisor to help her with her novels and stories. It's quite flattering, not to mention fun. She's got all the basic concepts and the characters down, and I get to help her figure out beats, character motivations, relationships and question when some details don't make sense. And in the end, I'm not doing all the work. It still takes quite a bit of my time, but still, what a dream!
Anyway, I think her stuff has got some good gumption to it. Watch out for Jaclyn Marr out there - she might have you in a spellbind. ;)
So this break wasn't ENTIRELY composed of nothing, and I have reason to feel proud for how creative I've gotten to be. And in four days, it's back to the world of clubs, essays, projects, lectures, talk shows and promotional posts for me. Not a bad deal at all, but you know when you feel like you have to switch mindsets and personalities to fit a different way of life? No? Just me? Okay.
Anyway, thanks for reading this blog. I'm not sure how you found it or why you found any interest in it, but I appreciate the company! I'll try my best to keep this blog up for updates on what I'm doing from time to time. Yeah. This will be my new year's resolution.
Until next time!
